Chris Hayward

Director / Head Builder

Having completed his pre-apprenticeship in 2002, Chris honed his construction skills over the ensuing decade from the South Coast to Sydney with New Steel Homes. Taking time to travel Australia and other parts of the world brought from a love of surfing and outdoor adventures, Chris returned to the South Coast and a few years later in 2013, he established Creative Constructions.

Built from the core values of trust and integrity, Chris quickly established Creative Constructions as a leading bespoke building company. Sought out by local and metropolitan entities alike, Creative Constructions successfully delivered many residential builds, renovations and commercial projects for Bannisters By The Sea and eminent Sydney Architect Tony Freeman of TF Architects.

In 2019, New View Building Solutions was born from the foundations laid by Creative Constructions. In New View, Chris continues his hands-on approach by overseeing every project, ensuring his high standards are replicated and amplified by his experienced team. Known for his honest communication and strong leadership, Chris guides all New View construction projects from design concepts to completion - this is what makes New View construction projects stand out from the rest.

When he is not on-site with his team or coordinating project stakeholders, you will find Chris somewhere outdoors, either adventure camping, caravaning, bike riding or surfing. Chris is also passionate about supporting his local community and is involved with several local not-for-profit projects.

Nathan Marks

Site Supervisor

Nathan is a highly skilled Site Supervisor known for his strong leadership on-site.

He completed his apprenticeship locally under award-winning builders, where he honed his trade skills and gained a deep understanding of both the practical and creative aspects of high-end construction.

With a natural focus on design, Nathan excels at managing complex projects and translating architectural plans into stunning, functional spaces. As a supervisor, he ensures structural integrity seamlessly integrates with aesthetic appeal, delivering results that consistently exceed client expectations.

More than just a master of project execution, Nathan is valued for his approachable nature. He works closely with clients, subcontractors, and the team to keep projects running smoothly, offering expert guidance every step of the way. Nathan’s commitment to quality, safety, and collaboration makes him an indispensable leader at New View.

When not managing sites, Nathan loves surfing and camping with his family.

Harry Marten

Site Supervisor

Harry is a highly skilled Site Supervisor renowned for his passion for architectural timber work. From big-picture problem-solving to the intricate detailing achieved on complex builds, overseeing high-quality carpentry is a true work of love for Harry.

He began his career building and maintaining huts, lodges, and bridges in New Zealand's rugged Fiordland National Parks. This unique start led to premium residential construction work across Australia’s alpine regions, including Jindabyne and Thredbo, where he continually evolved his trade skills and even extended his craft into creating custom hardwood furniture.

Since joining New View in 2022, Harry has become an integral leader on our projects. As a supervisor, he thrives on the daily challenges of the detailed architectural build process, where attention to detail is paramount. Harry’s commitment to quality is unwavering, and his personable leadership on-site ensures projects run smoothly every step of the way.

When not managing sites, Harry channels his love for the outdoors into spending hours, if not days, mountain biking and skiing.

Jack Alvis

Leading Hand Carpenter

Jack is a top-tier Leading Hand Carpenter, originally from the UK, who has been calling Australia home for the past nine years. Known for his exceptional craftsmanship, Jack has a passion for working with reclaimed materials, seamlessly blending heritage techniques with modern design.

With a keen eye for detail and strong technical expertise, Jack excels at executing complex projects on the tools, whether it’s restoring period features or shaping bold new builds. His hands-on leadership on-site and collaboration with the team ensure project details are delivered smoothly and to the highest standard every step of the way.

When he's not on the tools, you'll find Jack outdoors—surfing, hiking, or running—always chasing the next adventure.

Jack Lowe

Carpenter

Jack is another valued member of the New View carpentry team who is known for his versatility and positive energy.

Jack's passion is working with reclaimed materials although his skill set is broad and varied. With an eye for detail and a deep respect for craftsmanship, he takes pride in creating work that’s built to last and of such a standard as to be admired.

Outside of work, you’ll find Jack outdoors with his kids and family - camping, exploring, and soaking up the simple things.

Ben Shephard

Carpenter

Ben started his apprenticeship with New View in 2021 and has since become a qualified carpenter and highly valued member of the New View team.

Over the past four years, Ben has worked on a variety of renovation and new build projects. During this time, he has consistently delivered high-quality workmanship and earned a reputation for reliability and attention to detail. He has grown both professionally and personally, developing valuable skills in carpentry, problem-solving, and team collaboration. Additional theory-based study, undertaken through a Certificate IV in Building and Construction, has strengthened his knowledge, demonstrating his strong work ethic and commitment to the industry.

When he’s not working, Ben enjoys diving, fishing and camping.
